The cambelt is one of the most important components of your car and like all of them, over time, is subject to wear and tear.

There is no set rule for how frequently you should replace the cambelt as it depends on factors including the age of the cambelt, its quality, and the engine miles. At Flat 6 Automotive, we generally recommend sticking to the manufacturer’s guidelines at a minimum.

If the cambelt snaps, it can cause serious engine damage, so it’s a better and far cheaper option to replace the cambelt before it gets so worn that it snaps.
